RDKONEL is one of the first Instructional Design-technology corporations that has been a pioneer in improving online learning & teaching and make quality education universally accessible. since its original founding in 1999 by Dr. Rahini Kone . She believes that a better environment should be created to improve the quality of education for all. Therefore, the RDKONEL partnership is driven by a shared purpose: to work together and create a better learning and teaching environment through education-research, and innovation. With our partners over the world, RDKONEL continues to be part of creating, improving, and fostering an online learning and teaching environment that empowers all learners from around the world to build their future on their learning experiences.
RDKONEL first began at Atlanta University Center in 1999 when Dr. Rahini Kone approached certain of her AUC colleagues from Clark University, Morehouse College, and Spelman College (Dr. David Dorsey, former Dean of graduate; Dr. Twanny, former chef of the Humanity Department, Dr. Adams Maiga, Business school, and Dr. Johnnetta Betsch Cole, former president of spelman college) in the implementation of the first AUC online learning-teaching program that she believes should be the end of early dropouts of Africans-American students.
After 3 years of research and development, she finally created the online learning and teaching collaborations. IN 2006, she approached Clayton County public school ( Mr. Manney, former Assistant superintendent of Clayton County Public School), where she introduced Online learning and teaching collaborations. The project was to prepare students for the best colleges and universities of the country.
In 2007 after the second semester of the project implementation, she upgraded two elements of the project with online learning and a teaching collaboration with Canada–well before the current “online studies” trend. By the end of the second semester, students could engage in basic conversation in French, succeed in project presentation, research, short essay writing, and they had developed skills in debating and public speaking. Parents were able to check their students’ progress online, students were able to upload their work from home, and athletes were able to do their work after sports. The collaboration with French Canada helped our students in math and science while they practiced their French with native speakers. The project was the first online learning and teaching in Atlanta as far as we are aware and it helped boost the confidence level of our kids. Students and teachers were sent to Canada as part of the project.
